Abstract
Mesh erosion into the urinary bladder resulting in a bladder calculus is an uncommon, but significant, complication of herniorrhaphy. We present the operative and radiographic images of a 76-year-old woman who presented with inguinal drainage, urgency, frequency, recurrent urinary tract infections, and a large bladder calculus 3 years after femoral herniorrhaphy. Open cystolithotomy revealed the herniorrhaphy mesh had eroded into the bladder, causing the draining inguinal fistula tract and bladder calculi. Repeat herniorrhaphy without mesh and calculi extraction were performed without incident.Entities:
