Abstract
A sequence-based analysis of seven housekeeping and virulence-related genes shows that the species Vibrio vulnificus is subdivided into three phylogenetic lineages that do not correspond with the biotypes and that biotype 2 is polyphyletic. These results support the reclassification of biotype 2 as a pathovar that would group the strains with pathogenic potential to develop vibriosis in fish.Entities:
