Abstract
Chemokines are a superfamily of structurally homologous heparin-binding proteins that influence tumor growth and metastasis. Several members of the CXC and CC chemokine families are potent inducers of neovascularization, whereas a subset of the CXC chemokines are potent inhibitors. In this paper, we review the current literature regarding the role of chemokines as mediators of tumor angiogenesis and neovascularization.Entities:
