Abstract
This article examines the issues of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women and a new treatment option now available; FemSoft, an intraurethral insert. SUI is the most common type of urinary incontinence in women. There are many causes, risks and predisposing factors that nurses need to be aware of, both in treating the complaint and preventing future episodes. As incontinence causes a high level of embarrassment, patients are reluctant to seek help, so when the patient presents, nurses need to be able to provide accurate information on all treatments available. A brief description will be given of other management options, but the main focus will be on FemSoft, describing its features, benefits and research evidence so far.Entities:
