Abstract
The omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects in humans. Now, Oh et al. (2010) demonstrate that the G protein-coupled receptor GPR120 is a receptor for omega-3 fatty acids on macrophages and fat cells. Activation of GPR120 by omega-3 fatty acids inhibits multiple inflammation cascades in macrophages and reverses insulin resistance in obese mice. Copyright 2010 Elsevier Inc.
