Abstract
The European Society of Cardiology has recently revised its guidelines on the diagnosis and management of syncope. This article summarizes the recommendations of these guidelines, outlining the initial evaluation of transient loss of consciousness, risk stratification, diagnostic testing, and the recommended treatment for patients with syncope of various etiologies. Special points regarding the evaluation of syncope in children and the elderly are outlined, and the role of syncope management units in hospitals is discussed.Entities:
