Advanced imaging of the spine in small animals.

Abstract

Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are extremely valuable techniques in the diagnosis of spinal disorders. This article reviews the fundamentals, indications, key technical aspects, and advantages and disadvantages of each modality. The CT and MRI features of common spinal diseases are discussed and illustrated. Comparative studies using advanced and nonadvanced imaging modalities are also presented. Copyright 2010 Elsevier Inc.
