Abstract
Despite the advent of magnetic resonance imaging and musculoskeletal ultrasound, the plain radiographs of the hands and feet remain an important tool for a practising rheumatologist both in clinical and research settings. This review focuses on providing a historical overview of commonly used methods of scoring radiographs in rheumatoid arthritis and discusses technical issues related to radiographic scoring, limitations and advantages of radiographs, and current recommendations regarding reporting radiographic data in clinical trials.Entities:
