Abstract
The following report presents the treatment of a 53-year-old man that developed a radiolucency around the apex of the implant in the mandibular incisor region after placement and immediate provisionalization (nonfunctional loading). The radiolucency was detected during the final impression phase, 4 months after placement. A cone-beam computed tomographic scan revealed extensive involvement of the apical one third of the implant. The patient was placed on a course of antibiotics and monitored periodically over the next 12 months. The radiographic lesion gradually resolved over the following 9 months without further treatment. The patient remained asymptomatic throughout the course of final restorative therapy.Entities:
