Follow that messenger: live-imaging a journey out of the nucleus.

Maria Carmo-Fonseca1.

Abstract

Messenger RNAs (mRNAs) are synthesized in the cell nucleus and transported through nuclear pores to the cytoplasm for protein synthesis. Reporting in Nature Cell Biology, Mor et al. now track in living cells in real time the journey of single mRNA molecules as they transit from nucleus to cytoplasm. Copyright 2010 Elsevier Inc.
