Abstract
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is an important opportunistic pathogen following renal transplantation and is often associated with adverse outcomes. Gastrointestinal tuberculosis (GITB) is an infrequent manifestation of TB but a potentially lethal one. We present a case of a renal allograft recipient with GITB 18 months after transplant and review other published cases to identify the typical presenting symptoms, risk factors, and natural history. Treatment of GITB is also discussed.Entities:
