Abstract
We report a case of a patient with Bernard-Soulier syndrome who underwent off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting. Bernard-Soulier syndrome is a rare bleeding disorder caused by an abnormality or absence of a platelet membrane receptor (GPIb-IX-V) resulting in prolonged bleeding time, macrothrombocytes, and thrombocytopenia. We describe the strategy for a patient with Bernard-Soulier syndrome undergoing successful coronary artery bypass grafting. Copyright 2010 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Published by Elsevier Inc.
