Iatrogenically induced hallux varus.

R D Edelman1.

Abstract

Hallux varus is not uncommon after hallux valgus surgery. Through understanding of its cause, this deformity may be easily avoided with thorough preoperative evaluation, meticulous and deliberate intraoperative technique, and early postoperative diagnosis. By recognizing these factors, one can significantly reduce the predilection toward hallux varus. Once the diagnosis has been made, aggressive treatment is warranted, in the hope of minimizing the complexity of joint disorientation and surgical repair.
