Abstract
Hexokinase 1 (HK1) purified from rat brain exhibits protein kinase activity, including autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of histone H2A. This protein kinase activity is observed only in the absence of the HK1 carbohydrate substrate, glucose. Analysis of the ATP-binding domains of the mammalian HK1 protein sequences shows significant homology with other mammalian protein kinases.Entities:
