Abstract
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a common, destructive arthritis that may manifest in more than one-third of psoriasis patients. Dermatologists are in a unique position to diagnose PsA early, and to start prompt, effective treatment. Such early intervention with biological agents such as tumor necrosis factor alpha antagonists, which appear to hold particular promise in the long-term management of PsA, may significantly reduce morbidity, improve quality of life and substantially reduce the economic (patient and societal) burden of PsA.Entities:
