Interaction of electric eel acetylcholinesterase with natural and synthetic lipids.

Abstract

Interaction of purified molecular forms of electric eel acetylcholinesterase with liposomes prepared from a number of natural and synthetic lipids was demonstrated by a flotation gradient technique. 14S+18S 'tailed' AChE interacted with certain phospholipids at both high and low ionic strength, and with several others only at low ionic strength. 11S globular AChE displayed significant interaction with dipalmitoyl lecithin at both high and low ionic strength.
