[X-ray Analysis of the Axial Position of the Lower Extremity before and after High Tibial Arcuate Osteotomy.].

R Hart1.

Abstract

The authors investigated by X-ray examinations a group of 36 patients subjected to high tibial arcuate osteotomy. They focus their attention on changes of different angles which in sum form the femorotibial angle. These angles are assessed before surgery and twice after surgery. They found that after six to eight months after surgery when the extremity is fully burdened a partial loss of the correction occurs in the line of osteotomy and this is sometimes associated with a poor subjective result as conceived by the patient. In the conclusion they reflect also on other aspects of this type of operation. Key words: high arcuate tibial osteotomy, revarization, correction of axis, genu varum arthroticum.
