A Family Physician's Approach to the Treatment of Acne.

N R Rockerbie.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a condition seen commonly in family practice. It is well recognized by physicians but, in general, poorly treated. An understanding of the disease process and of the medications used is essential to proper treatment. Moreover each case must be treated individually with a specific treatment regimen, depending on the type and severity of acne. The author of this paper deals with the disease process and medications, and suggests a treatment strategy useful for the primary care physician.
