Abstract
Longterm safety of vasectomy has been questioned, based on the possibility of sperm antigens causing an antibody response. The point at which the antigens enter the circulation is unknown. Animal experiments have shown atherosclerosis as a result of antibody production, but evidence in man is still equivocal. Nonetheless, the family physician is obliged to inform patients of possible postoperative complications, but to avoid overinterpretation of a still controversial problem.Entities:
