Abstract
Moral and prejudicial beliefs have affected the control of venereal disease throughout history. Such victim-blaming attitudes are impediments to the implementation of an effective control program based on epidemiological concepts and findings. A host-oriented focus in control programs deflects critical attention away from deficiencies in responses of physicians and governments to disease intervention, which may well account for the continuing high disease rates.Year: 1981 PMID: 20469356 PMCID: PMC2306186
