Rehabilitation following fracture of the hip.

M E Brandstater.

Abstract

Rehabilitation, the process of achieving maximum restoration of physical, psychological and social function, must be carefully planned and executed. It should be goal-directed, and based on a thorough assessment of the patient's medical, functional and psychosocial status. For patients with fracture of the hip, early mobilization and rapid restoration of function are paramount. A sound and consistent approach can be achieved only when there is a good collaboration between orthopedic surgeon, medical consultants, family physician and allied health personnel.
