Abstract
The insertion of a needle into a joint, bursa or tendon sheath is done for diagnostic and/or therapeutic reasons. The family physician can easily perform this service in his own office if correct techniques are used. The purpose of this article is to outline the diagnostic and therapeutic indications, describe the techniques and discuss the possible adverse effects of these procedures.Entities:
