Clinical utilization of thyroid function tests.

G E Wilkins.

Abstract

Although the availability of different thyroid function tests has increased our knowledge of thyroid disease, it has also presented problems for the physician who must decide what test to use in a given clinical setting. This paper reviews the various tests and makes specific recommendations for proper utilization of the readily available tests in assessing thyroid function.
