Abstract
The many features of development in a young child are closely interrelated. Impairment in any one area may have far reaching effects. Early recognition, evaluation, and intervention are possible and essential if a child is to develop optimally. This communication offers an outline of clues to diagnosis through history and examination, of children suspected of being developmentally impaired. Particular emphasis is placed upon the value and importance of parental observations, both as they relate to the initial suspicion of any particular complaint about development, and as they concern details of their child's abilities and disabilities. Several screening tests are cited, and a plan of management for such children in a family practice is suggested.Entities:
