Current experience with hair transplanting.

W P Unger.

Abstract

Since I originally described it in 1971, the technique of hair transplantation has changed considerably. This article summarizes these alterations introduced during the course of operating on more than 200 patients. Results of the procedure are now considerably better. In addition, by using premedication, newly available smaller gauge needles and a sensible anesthetizing technique, discomfort felt during the operation has been greatly minimized. Most patients now compare it favorably with the pain felt at a dentist's office and approximately 20 percent claim they feel no pain at all.
