Abstract
Although group psychotherapy as a concept has been in existence since the late 19th century, it is only since the 1930s that the concept has been used in the way we know it today. Since man functions in groups, it is logical to try and rehabilitate the maladjusted member of society by using a therapeutic group. This has an added benefit since it allows the therapist to treat many more people than is possible in individual therapy. This article describes the various types of group therapy now used.Entities:
