The authors examine 25 consecutive referrals to a community health nurse from a family doctor with a largely medical geriatric practice. They emphasize the nurse's role, and the problems she encountered. The authors list the lessons they learned from this experience; their intention is that their findings will benefit other doctors who are contemplating such rewarding partnerships.
