Streptococcal pharyngitis-an analysis of the diagnostic process for ambulant patients.

A H McFarlane, B P O'Connell.

Abstract

In an analysis of the diagnostic procedure for streptococcal pharyngitis, it was found that physicians had difficulty distinguishing bacterial and non-bacterial upper respiratory infections. It was also found that a nurse can realiably take a pharyngeal swab-this would result in saving time and expense.
