Abstract
A 37-year-old homosexual man was admitted because of oropharyngeal pain, fever, diarrhea, loss of weight and lymphadenopathy since one week. Acute retroviral syndrome (ARS) in primary HIV type 1 infection was diagnosed, associated with Giardia lamblia infection. Antiinfective and combined antiretroviral treatment was established, and the general condition of the patient rapidly improved. The presented report demonstrates that in case of acute HIV-infection with diarrhea other infections should be considered, particularly with regard to enteropathogens like Giardia lamblia.Entities:
