Abstract
The foot is presented in all its complexity as an entity that is the result of evolution as a morphological compromise between the static and dynamic demands made upon it. The subchondral mineralization of the ankle joints and the morphology of the ligaments is described in detail. A point of particular interest is the plantar aponeurosis and the septa plantaria. Additionally, the kinematic and dynamic aspects are discussed with respect to their relationship to the whole foot. Finally, an overview of the most important vessels and topographical regions is given.Entities:
