Health-related quality of life in Hispanics with chronic kidney disease.

Anna C Porter1, Julio C Vijil, Mark Unruh, Claudia Lora, James P Lash.

Abstract

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is an important patient-reported outcome that has gained attention in research and clinical practice. In recent years, reports of chronic kidney disease (CKD) have increased. However, not much information is available for Hispanics with CKD, a group whose rates of incidents are on the rise. This review discusses the measurement of HRQOL in CKD, with a particular focus on issues pertaining to Hispanics. Future research directions also are discussed. Copyright 2010 Mosby, Inc.
