Nevertheless, evidence has gradually accumulated that indicates that sex steroid-induced modulation of growth hormone secretion is a central and critical feature of the pubertal growth spurt. As a result, disorders of either growth hormone or sex steroid hormone production may result in clinical growth disorders during puberty.
