Abstract

This article serves as the introduction to an issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology: In Session on the topic of treating rural and isolated clients. This preface frames the issue's topic and addresses the question, "What are the best practices for rural and isolated clients?" Themes of rural mental health are outlined, and the subsequent articles are introduced. Readers of this issue are given case examples, clinical recommendations, and seminal research findings in the hope of integrating and adopting effective methods for underserved rural clients.
