Abstract
A 60-year-old man was referred to the accident and emergency department because of muscle cramps and retrosternal pain. Laboratory tests revealed severe vitamin D deficiency and hypocalcaemia. The patient had undergone bariatric surgery several years previously. Disturbances in fat-soluble vitamins and in minerals are a frequent complication after bariatric procedures. Recognition and treatment of these disorders is very important.Entities:
