Mutagenesis: mutating a gene while reading it.

Abstract

Is it possible to mutate DNA during transcription? A new study shows that UV-damaged DNA is deaminated during transcription, which is a probable mechanism underlying CC tandem mutations found in the p53 gene in skin cancers. Copyright 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
