Abstract

Supraventricular tachycardia is the most common symptomatic arrhythmia in children. Therefore, paediatricians should be familiar with this problem. There has been great progress recently. Pathophysiological mechanisms are better known and pharmacological options more diversified. Also, curative therapy is available by catheter ablation. This article reviews this cardiac rate disorder under a number of perspectives: definition, epidemiology, categories (mainly Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and atrioventricular node reentry), clinical features, differential diagnosis, therapeutic options and prognosis.
