Development method and modulation transfer function of xerography.

Abstract

Based on earlier publications it is shown that the theory of the modulation transfer function (MTF) may be applied to the vertical component of the electrostatic field. Whether the theory may be applied to the visible xerographic reproduction depends on the development method which also has an effect on the curve shape of the MTF. The MTF may be applied to pictorial reproductions but not to line copy with strong adjacency effect.
