Abstract
Of the 44 bone marrow transplant recipients asked to participate in this study, 33 completed psychometric instruments. Twenty-five patients had both unstructured clinical interviews and interviews using a structured diagnostic instrument (the Composite International Diagnostic Interview). There were no differences between allogeneic and autogenic transplant recipients. Overall, patients demonstrated adjustment comparable with other medical patients. A high prevalence of depression (40%) was shown to be associated with impaired function. The implications of these findings are discussed.Entities:
