Transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy: preliminary experiences.

Andreas Kirschniak1, Stefan Bollmann, Rudolph Pointner, Frank A Granderath.

Abstract

As safe techniques and adequate equipment are easily accessible, the minimally invasive approach to cholecystectomy has become the gold standard over the last decade. Nowadays, further minimally invasive techniques using only 1 skin incision to gain access to the abdominal cavity have become available. Transvaginal, transcolonic, or transgastric approaches have recently been described. We present a laparoscopic single-incision transumbilical approach to cholecystectomy with commonly used laparoscopic instruments.
