Abstract
A knowledge of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is important in colon and rectal surgery. This article reviews our increasing knowledge of the virology of HIV and the occupational exposure risks of surgeons and their assistants. The current pharmacologic treatment of HIV is also reviewed.Entities:
