Abstract
Muco-epidermoid carcinomas (MECs) are typically located in the salivary, lacrimal and tracheobronchial glands. However, they can also be present in the oesophagus. Primary MECs of the oesophagus account for 0.05% to 2.2% of all cases of primary oesophageal cancer. Treatment for this tumour has primarily been surgical resection. In this report we present the surgical and pathological findings of a primary MEC of the oesophagus in an 82-year-old woman and review the management options for this tumour.Entities:
