Abstract
Diabetes and diabetes-related risk factors increase the risk of diabetes complications, particularly if the disease is controlled poorly. Three diabetes risk factors were examined in this study: obesity (body mass index), hypertension (systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure), and hyperlipidemia (cholesterol and triglyceride). The Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1982-1984), the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2000, and NHANES 2001-2002 were utilized to examine and compare trends and differences in diabetes-related risk factor variables in Mexican Americans with diabetes.Entities:
