Abstract
The phagocytosis which occurs in the lungs of rats receiving sulfonamide is due neither to an opsonizing action of the sulfonamides nor to type-specific antibody. The evidence presented indicates that the destruction of the pneumococci is brought about by a phagocytic mechanism independent of both opsonization and capsular injury.Entities:
