Abstract
1. Rickettsia prowazeki can be cultivated for many generations in vitro, without diminution in numbers or virulence, in media similar to those described by Maitland, Rivers, and others for the cultivation of certain viruses. In all probability, such cultures can be maintained indefinitely. 2. It has been impossible, thus far, to cultivate the typhus rickettsia without employing living tissue.Entities:
