Abstract
Following the removal of half of the spleen in young adult rats there is a compensatory enlargement of the remaining portion of about 50 per cent while in mature rabbits no such compensatory hypertrophy follows a similar procedure. It is uncertain whether this difference is due to a difference in the function of the spleen in the two species or to the fact that the rats were infected with Bartonella muris while the rabbits were not.Entities:
