Abstract
We demonstrate experimentally an all-optical signal regenerator capable of ultrafast operation. An input data stream first forces mode locking of a cw fiber laser that generates a continuous stream of optical pulses at the line rate. This recovered clock is then modulated by the data stream in a nonlinear fiber loop mirror. We show that the regenerated data have less intensity variation and less temporal jitter than the incoming data.Year: 1993 PMID: 19823340 DOI: 10.1364/ol.18.001226
