Abstract
Vascular dementia is a common cause of late-life cognitive decline. Vascular risk factors, transient ischemic attacks, silent and clinically evident strokes, and ischemic changes on brain imaging studies are all associated with the development of dementia. Prevention of vascular dementia involves treatment of risk factors and the same preventive measures used to avoid heart attacks and strokes. Other treatments for vascular dementia, although promising, remain unproved.Entities:
