Abstract
Hollow mesoporous carbon spheres (HMCSs) were used for the first time as a bilirubin adsorbent, which showed an extraordinarily high bilirubin adsorption capacity as compared with commercial activated carbon for haemoperfusion, high bilirubin adsorption selectivity and negligible hemolytic activity.
