Cascade synthesis of (E)-2-alkylidenecyclobutanols.

Abstract

A facile, one-pot reaction cascade condenses 1,1,1-trichloroalkanes with alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones to unexpectedly furnish moderate to good yields of (E)-2-alkylidenecyclobutanols.
