[Cognitive aspects of women's body image and eating disorders].

Abstract

BACKGROUND: The authors presents basics of theoretical knowledge connected with cognitive aspects women's body image in Poland. The authors also presents results of research connected with the same subject.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study involved 111 women divided into groups - adolescents and young women and women with eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia nervosa). The study methods included the Contour Drawing Rating Scale (CDRS) by Thompson and Gray. RESULTS AND
CONCLUSIONS: The statistical tests indicate differences in the cognitive dimension of body image (between ideal and real self) among adolescent and young women, and women with eating disorders.
